| What is the Conference all about? |
|
| The Conference will offer great opportunities for skill-building, information-sharing, and professional networking, specially for and among translators and interpreters of medical and health-related materials. |
| |
| Who are the organizers of this Conference? |
|
| TRADULÍNGUAS, a Portuguese translation company with a long and successful record of translator's training is the main organizer of this Conference. The organizing team is also composed of other professional translators and physicians with a wide experience in the translation and interpreting practicing and teaching. Some of us will also be presenting at the Conference. Meet us on the Organizing Team page. |
| |
| What will be the topics presented/discussed at the Conference? |

| |
| Where can I find the Conference Schedule and Program? |
|
| You can view the Conference Schedule on the Index page or by downloading it from the Abstracts & Bios page. |
| |
| Why should I attend this Conference? |
|
| If you are an experienced translator and interpreter working with health-related subjects there will be plenty for you to see, learn, and discuss. And, if you are just starting in this field of specialization, you will gain valuable information about your profession and many specialized fields of knowledge in this highly-requested segment of the language industry. |
| |
| Can you recommend what sessions I should attend? |
|
| In one word? ALL of them. Because there will be parallel sessions, you'll be forced to choose some sessions and not to attend others. Which ones in particular, that depends on your needs and interests as a language professional. However, keep in mind that your Conference CD-ROM will include the presentations and handouts from most, if not all, of the sessions in the Conference. |
| |
| Will you publish the Conference Proceedings? |
|
| All Conference participants will receive a CD-ROM (ISBN: 978-989-20-1336-7) containing the speakers biographies and presentations and other support materials in PDF format (if given by speakers for publication) and sponsor/exhibitor descriptions. View more information in the Abstracts & Bios page. |
| |
Do I need to sign up for Conference sessions ahead of time? What if I want to attend more than one session in a given time period? |
|
| No, except for the SDL Trados session, which is reserved for corporate attendees, it is not necessary to register for any specific session. Each session will be placed in a room that should accommodate the interest in the topic. If you are interested in more than one session in a given time slot, keep in mind that your Conference CD-ROM will include the presentations and handouts from most, if not all, of the sessions in the Conference. |
| |
Can I take my notebook computer for the Conference? |
|
| Yes, you can. But, keep in mind that you will be distracted and loose a good deal of the presentations. If you are interested in more than one session in a given time slot, keep in mind that your Conference CD-ROM will include the presentations and handouts from most, if not all, of the sessions in the Conference. To check your Email, attendees will have access to a computer room with Internet connection |
| |
| Can I attend the Conference for one day only? |
|
| Individual day passes are not available. The registration price is the same to attend any portion of the Conference. |
| |
I'm a member of a translators/interpreters professional organization where members are required to accumulate continuing education credits. Will this Conference help me maintain my CE record? |

| Can my employer or institution send you a purchase order or can you issue an invoice (proforma or otherwise) to pay for my registration? |
|
| Sorry, no. We do not accept purchase orders and we do not issue invoices. |
| |
| Can I pay for my registration using somebody else's bank or PayPal account? |
|
| Yes, you can, provided, of course, that the account holder (e.g., employer, spouse, friend, etc.) has given you his/her authorization to do so. In these circumstances, you MUST indicate the name of the account holder responsible for the payment on the Registration Form. Without this information, we are left in the dark, with one payment from someone without a registration form and a registration form from someone who has not paid. TRADULÍNGUAS will NOT be responsible for any private dealings between the account holder making the payment and the Conference registrant.. |
| |
| Do I have to register in advance or can I register on-site? |
|
| We strongly discourage "walking in" as you will not be guaranteed materials or seating. It is best to register in advance. Besides, if you register by October 3, you will save on your registration fee. Also, bear in mind that we can only accommodate a certain number of people in the Conference venue. For the TRADULÍNGUAS Translation Conference, held at the same venue in 2007, we had to stop accepting registrations about 1 month before the Conference date! |
| |
| If I am unable to attend, what is your cancellation policy? |
|
| Visit the Registration page for full information about the cancellation policy and deadlines. |
| |
I am an attendee coming from overseas, and I need a visa to travel to Portugal. How do I register for the Conference while awaiting my visa? |
|

TRADULÍNGUAS can provide confirmation of your registration to any immigration authorities, but will NOT provide any invitation letters to the Conference. NOTE: Schengen visas may take some additional time to obtain. |
| |
